Wayvilo policies
Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026.
Overview
Effective October 15, 2026.
Wayvilo ("Wayvilo," "we," "us") is operated by Westen Miller, an individual based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This policy explains what information we collect when you use wayvilo.com, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
Wayvilo helps travelers discover vacation rentals, compare booking prices, and plan trips together. Rental companies list their properties on Wayvilo, but reservations and payments happen on each rental company's own website.

We do not collect payment card details, government ID numbers, or precise GPS location.
Cookies, analytics and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and understand how Wayvilo is used.
| Technology | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Essential cookies and local storage | Wayvilo | Sign-in, security, and saved settings |
| Google Analytics 4 | Google LLC | Visits, traffic sources, and feature usage |
| Vercel Web Analytics | Vercel Inc. | Visit and page view counts |
| Vercel Speed Insights | Vercel Inc. | Page loading and responsiveness |
| Daily session identifier (session storage) | Wayvilo | Preventing duplicate listing activity counts |
Google Analytics. We load Google Analytics only after you choose Allow analytics. You can decline or withdraw your choice at any time using Analytics preferences on this page or in the footer. We also keep it off when your country is unknown, in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, or on sign-in, sign-up, password-reset, and account pages. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, such as _ga, to recognize returning browsers and measure how people use Wayvilo. We have turned off Google signals and all advertising features, so this data is not used for ad personalization, remarketing, or cross-device tracking. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google Analytics event retention follows the setting in our Google Analytics property. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and opt out at any time with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
What we keep out of analytics. We remove query strings and fragments from reported page URLs, group private pages without account, trip, or invitation identifiers, and exclude sign-in and account pages. We never send names, email addresses, trip contributions, messages, or search text to an analytics provider.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track signal, Wayvilo does not load Google Analytics or Vercel Web Analytics for that browser and leaves it out of listing activity counts. Essential cookies still work so you can sign in.
Managing cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in.
How we use information
- Provide Wayvilo: your account, profile, saved homes, comparison boards, plans, and sharing tools.
- Show listings, estimated stay totals, and price comparisons.
- Review and publish rental company listings and travel tips.
- Send service messages, such as sign-in and password emails, plan invitations, and replies to your requests.
- Understand how Wayvilo is used so we can improve features, speed, and reliability.
- Keep Wayvilo safe by preventing spam, fraud, and abuse, and by enforcing our terms.
- Meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. We send marketing email only if you choose to receive it, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
What other people can see
Profiles. Your profile can be public or private. Public profiles show your bio, social links, profile and cover photos, and featured photos. Private profiles are visible only to you and accepted friends, and blocking someone also restricts their access. Past-trip summaries stay hidden unless you choose to show them in Edit profile. New photo uploads are private unless you choose to feature them.
Shared plans. Everyone who joins a plan can read its conversations, photos, check-in instructions, and expense notes. Profile privacy settings do not hide your contributions from a plan's members. Invitation links let new people join after signing in, and comparison links let anyone with the link open that board. Share links only with people you intend to include.
Photos. Photos are stored with ownership and access settings. Removing a featured photo hides it from your public highlights, deleting an upload removes it, and removing a trip post removes it from the shared feed. We cannot control copies that others have already downloaded.
Public listings and content. Property guest photos, approved listings, company descriptions, branding, social links, and approved travel tips are public. Company contact names and email addresses submitted for review are not shown on public pages.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted ads. We share information only in the ways described here.
Service providers. These companies help us run Wayvilo and process information only on our behalf and under our instructions.
| Provider | Service |
|---|---|
| Vercel Inc. | Website hosting, web analytics, and performance monitoring |
| Google LLC | Google Analytics and Google Workspace email |
| Resend | Delivery of contact form and account emails |
| Supabase (Supabase Pte. Ltd. and Supabase, Inc.) | Account records, database, and file storage |
Embedded content and external images. Some property pages load Google Maps, provided by Google LLC, and images from rental-company or user-supplied HTTPS image hosts. Loading them sends your IP address and browser request information to those providers. Fonts are hosted by Wayvilo. External booking and social websites receive information when you open their links.
Other Wayvilo members. Information you share in public profiles, shared plans, and comparison links is visible as described in What other people can see.
Rental companies. Rental companies see daily totals of views, saves, comparison additions, and direct-booking clicks for their own properties. These reports contain no traveler names, email addresses, or individual browsing records. To avoid counting the same visit twice, we use a random browser-session identifier kept in session storage and refreshed each UTC day, and a daily hash of the account ID for saves. Keys older than the current UTC day and the two before it are deleted on the next recorded listing activity. Listing activity records do not store IP addresses, user agents, or referrers. Detected bots and browsers sending Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track are excluded, and blocking this collection does not affect browsing, saving, or booking links.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe in good faith it is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wayvilo, our users, or others.
Business changes. If Wayvilo is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With your direction. We share information in other ways when you ask us to.
Booking, payments and other websites
Wayvilo does not process rental payments or collect card information. When you choose Book direct or another booking option, you leave Wayvilo for the rental company's or booking site's own website. That provider handles your reservation and payment, and its own privacy policy applies. Expense notes in a plan only describe payments made elsewhere; Wayvilo does not handle or verify them.
Wayvilo also links to social networks and other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we do not operate.
Your choices and privacy rights
In your account. You can edit your profile, switch between public and private, feature or remove photos, delete uploads, leave plans, block people, and download your records from My Account. To request account deletion, choose “Delete my account” in My Account, use our contact form, or email admin@wayvilo.com. Account deletion is currently handled through support, rather than an automatic account setting.
Your rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information.
- Receive your information in a portable format.
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, and profiling. Wayvilo does none of these.
We honor these requests for every user, whatever state you live in.
How to make a request. Use our account or data request form or email admin@wayvilo.com. We verify requests by confirming you control the email address on the account. You may use an authorized agent, and we may ask the agent for proof of your permission. We respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need more time. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line "Appeal." We will respond within 60 days. If you disagree with the result, you may contact your state attorney general.
California residents. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
Email. You can unsubscribe from any non-essential email using the link it contains. Service messages about your account will still be sent.
How long we keep information
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, and trip content | While your account is open |
| Account deletion requests | Handled through support after identity verification. We review account records, uploaded files, and shared-plan contributions together; some shared content or legally required records may remain. We will explain what is removed or retained when responding to your request. |
| Support and contact messages | Retained while needed to respond to requests and maintain support records; there is currently no automatic deletion schedule |
| Google Analytics event data | According to the retention setting in our Google Analytics property |
| Listing activity keys | Current UTC day plus the two before it; older keys are removed on the next recorded activity |
| Listing activity totals | While the property listing exists |
| Spam-prevention counters | Temporary, stored in hashed form without raw IP addresses |
We may keep information longer when the law requires it or to resolve disputes and enforce our terms. We do not currently operate an automatic account-deletion or backup-expiry schedule and do not promise that every copy is removed within a fixed number of days. Shared-plan contributions require separate review because other members may rely on them.
Security
Wayvilo uses encrypted HTTPS connections, limits access to personal information to people who need it to run the service, and does not store passwords in readable form. No website can guarantee perfect security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Please do not put passwords, payment details, or entry codes in support requests, public profiles, or comments.
Children
You must be at least 18 years old to create an Wayvilo account. Wayvilo is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us at admin@wayvilo.com.
Visitors outside the United States
Wayvilo is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored there. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Wayvilo does not load Google Analytics.
Where EU or UK data protection law applies, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (running your account and plans), our legitimate interests (security, spam prevention, and improving Wayvilo), your consent (where we ask for it), and legal obligations. You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your information, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we will change the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will notify you by email or with a notice on Wayvilo before it takes effect.
